Rental Assistance
In Allegheny County, most rental assistance funds are managed through the Allegheny Housing Stabilization Collaborative (AHSC, pronouned ask). AHSC partners, RentHelpPGH and ACTION-Housing, Inc. work with Allegheny County Department of Human Services to design rental assistance programs that allow us to serve as many of our neighbors as possible in a timely manner.
Rental assistance availability varies throughout the year and different funding sources have different qualifications. In most circumstances, accessing rental assistance will require either attending a mediation session with Just Mediation Pittsburgh or having an eviction filing with the court.
Rental assistance can only be paid if it will make the current housing situation sustainable (it cannot pay arrears if there is not intent to continue living at the unit).
