Across Allegheny County, social service providers often identify the same challenge: maintaining accurate, up-to-date information about available community resources.
Nearly every agency maintains its own resource list while wishing there were a shared one. As a result, providers across the county spend countless hours researching programs, confirming eligibility requirements, verifying contact information, tracking availability, and updating outdated information.
RentHelpPGH is uniquely positioned to help reduce that duplication. Our team includes twenty Resource Navigators who work closely with hundreds of households each month. Through that work, they are constantly researching resources, contacting providers, verifying information, and learning about new programs and changes across Allegheny County.
Over time, we realized that this collective knowledge represented one of our organization's most valuable assets. In 2024, after years of institutionalizing our internal "hive mind," RentHelpPGH began formally organizing and maintaining that information through the RentHelpPGH Community Resource Guide. We also established a Resource Ambassador Committee to ensure that updates identified by staff and community partners are regularly incorporated into the guide.
We are excited to make this resource available to the broader Allegheny County community. The guide is reviewed and updated quarterly and is intended to support both service providers and residents seeking housing, financial, legal, employment, health, and other community resources.
Together, we can make so much more possible.
We welcome feedback about outdated information, changes in availability, accessibility notes, or resources that should be added.
